About the Job:
At Ethos Engineering, we are proud to lead the way in mechanical and electrical consultancy within the building services sector. We’re currently offering a new and exciting opportunity for a Site Engineer – Mechanical to join our team.
In this hybrid role, you’ll support the quality assurance of our mechanical designs by conducting regular site visits and engaging with contractors and clients. Your main focus will be ensuring that our design intent is fully and accurately implemented on site, maintaining the high standards we’re known for. This role requires flexibility and a proactive mindset, with travel to client sites across Ireland.
About You:
- The candidate must be based in Ireland and have full flexibility to travel within the Schengen Zone without restrictions.
- A qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Site experience, ideally in building services or M&E consultancy.
- A strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, pipework, ventilation, drainage, controls (BMS), and fire suppression.
- Familiarity with BCaR inspections and quality assurance procedures.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and relay design intent to site teams.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Comfortable travelling to various project sites across Ireland.
- Experience using site management and documentation software (ProCore or similar) is a plus.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
Your Day-to-Day Activities
- Attending site visits to ensure design intent is clearly understood and implemented.
- Communicating technical requirements to foremen, operatives, and subcontractors.
- Reviewing site installations and producing snag lists to capture any deviations from the design.
- Witnessing Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and recording outcomes.
- Conducting and reporting on BCaR compliance inspections via Zutec.
- Collaborating with commissioning teams to monitor progress and identify risks.
- Ensuring the latest drawings and specifications are being followed on site.
- Documenting site observations, work progress, and any technical issues.
- Supporting quality control processes and maintaining accurate records in line with inspection and test plans.
- Liaising with internal design teams to provide feedback from site and close the loop on quality assurance.
- Supporting junior engineers through knowledge sharing and site experience.
- Promoting a strong health and safety culture on site and adhering to all safety regulations.
